Art Feature: 10 Artists With Dreamy Gold Leaf Art

Updated: Sep 28, 2019

If you follow me on Instagram you know I have two obsessions: textured and shiny art. I decided to bring to you a list of artists that work with gold leaf in unique ways.

I think gold leaf is an element incorporated by artist that isn't as popular due to the fact that its application is a whole process many are unsure of how to perform.

I want to show you what's out there and why I'm in love with gold leaf, and I hope to make a post in the future about how to apply it.

For now, I featured one of my many favorite paintings by these artists, so please take your time to check out the links I have provided to see why I fell in love with their art and their unique style. I hope you find the inspiration you seek.

Here we go:

Amy Elizabeth

Amy Elizabeth is an artist from Charlotte, North Carolina. Most of her work on Instagram consist of abstract florals with vibrant colors and an intuitive application of gold leaf that highlights her work in the best way.

Becky Smith

Not all off Becky Smith's work features gold leaf, but when it does it highlights birds and other animals that seem to inhabit a fantastic world. Her art style features bright colors perfectly blended to create the details that make her work come to life.

Etta Vee

Jessi, owner of the brand EttaVee is an American artist living in Paris. I have followed her work for a long time and I can never get tired of her abstract art that features playful, colorful strokes. Generally, her art contains gold in one way or another, either with golden paint or a part that is gold leafed, ready to taken over by her colorful style.

Jo Payne

Jo Paine is an abstract landscape artist from the UK. Most of her works consist of a perfect blend of neutral colors (mostly greys and blues) with a specific focus point marked by bold stokes. Her application of gold leaf helps to highlight her focus point or serves to add a magical touch to her moody skies and waterways.

Kimberly Meadowlark

Kimberly Meadowlark is another artist I've been following for a while. Her bold art is composed of a wild presence of bright colors and gold leaf intuitively applied throughout each piece. Every so often her art changes into the exploration of a new set of colors and a variation of her style, but the presence of gold leaf remains.

Lourdes Montes

I know it might be weird to feature myself in my post, but I have made gold leaf a permanent element in my art so let me tell you a little more about my gold leaf style. I have used gold leaf with intuitive pattens in some of my paintings, but I prefer to use it as frame for my textured art. I began using gold leaf since my Bling Collection, and it felt like it belonged with my style so I decided it would be a keeper.

You are in my website, so feel free to wander around, and find me on social media with the links below:

The painting featured here is belongs to a series entitled "Expansion" which was displayed in a gallery in Mexico City.
